1. Overview
ReadFlow ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that enhances reading productivity through Bionic Reading, RSVP Speed Reading, Focus Mode, and reading analytics. This Privacy Policy explains what data the Extension accesses and how it is used.
2. Data We Collect
ReadFlow collects no personal data. Specifically:
- We do not collect names, email addresses, or any identity information.
- We do not track browsing history or URLs visited.
- We do not transmit any data to external servers.
- We do not use analytics services, advertising networks, or tracking pixels.
3. Data Stored Locally on Your Device
The Extension stores the following data only on your device using Chrome's built-in storage APIs:
- Settings — your preferences (font size, theme, reading speed, etc.) stored via
chrome.storage.syncfor cross-device sync through your Google account. - Reading Statistics — aggregate counts (total words read, sessions, average WPM) stored locally via
chrome.storage.local. No page URLs or content are stored in statistics. - Saved Articles — article titles, source URLs, and word counts that you explicitly save via the "Save" button in Reader Mode. Stored via
chrome.storage.local.
All stored data can be deleted at any time via the Extension's Settings → "Clear All Data" button.
4. Permissions Used
- storage — To save your settings and reading statistics locally.
- activeTab — To apply reading features to the current page only when you click the extension.
No permission grants access to your browsing history, passwords, bookmarks, or any external service.
5. Page Content Access
The content script reads the text content of the currently viewed web page solely to apply reading enhancements (Bionic Reading transformation, RSVP word extraction, article detection for Reader Mode). This processing happens entirely within your browser. Page content is never sent anywhere.
6. Third-Party Services
ReadFlow does not integrate with any third-party services, APIs, or analytics platforms. No data leaves your browser.
7. Children's Privacy
ReadFlow does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The Extension contains no age-gated features and processes no personal data from any user.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the Extension's functionality. The current version is always available on this page and in the Chrome Web Store listing. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
